Guests will learn about the different ages and stages of the dairy cow, from birth through adulthood. We will meet, pet, and even feed baby calves, explore the barns, and meet kitties. Every tour is adjusted to meet the needs and interests of our guests. We encourage our guests to participate hands-on, and encourage questions and ideas! We simply love to share our love of farming and our animals with others! ***All proceeds from our farm tours go directly to our nonprofit organization, Liberty Hill Center for Agricultural Education. *** Other things to note: I only book about a month in advance, so if your preferred date does not appear, check back! Tours will be held rain or shine! I only cancel if temperatures are below zero, so please plan accordingly! It is up to the guest to check weather reports. No refunds will be given for guests canceling the morning of the tours for weather-related issues. We love all animals, but cannot host guests’ pets, for the safety and well-being of our animals!
La natura curativa dei cavalli
Join the herd and Ellen, an equine assisted wellness coach and energy healer. We gather to share the gifts of this highly sensitive and emotionally intelligent animal. Specifically, how they model self care, healthy boundary setting, self awareness, intuition, personal strength and spiritual presence. Valuable gifts for extreme times! Content is geared towards adults, however children can benefit. Roughly and depending on the needs of the group, the first hour is educational and the second hour is hands on experiential learning with the horse. Private bookings are available for individuals, couples, families and small groups to keep it personable. If bringing children, it is helpful to know what age to plan for. Request a day and time that works for you and we will do our best to accommodate you. Other things to note: Please dress for outdoor temperatures. Individual comfort level is respected for level of equine participation. Weather depending it can be muddy so boots are optional.
Il tornio da vasaio: giocare con l'argilla
Learn from a Master Potter how to "throw" pots on the potters wheel. This one and a half hour class will take you from a ball of clay to forming a cup, bowl or some other creation that only you could do! You will learn the basic techniques needed to center the clay and form a pot. Most guests are able to try 3-4 pieces of clay during the experience. This gives you a good feel for working on the potters wheel. It's fun, it's mesmerizing and something you will remember for a lifetime. Other things to note: The experience is getting to understand working on the potters wheel. Unfortunately, you will not be able to take any pieces s home with you. Making a ceramic pot is a multi-step process and the throwing part is only the first step of four that is spread out over a few weeks. A good attitude, the ability to use both hands and sit on a low stool is required.
Prepara lo sciroppo d'acero del Vermont
Your group (up to 10 persons) will learn the process of making maple syrup. I will guide you through a tasting of the different syrup grades and explain how to grade and bottle maple syrup. We will then try some sugar on snow which you will never forget! Maple sap runs when the days are above 38 degrees and the nights are below freezing. If the sap is not running or we don't have sap in storage, I will boil water (sap is 97% water) for the class. If the dates that we have listed don't work for your time frame, just send me an email and I can see if we can find another time for your true Vermont maple experience. We produce our syrup in an artisan way and you will be able to see this when you sample our maple products. We will have a maximum of 10 people, the sugar house is small, and we are not a giant production house that does thousand of gallons per year. Children under 5 are free. We at most make 60 gallons, most of which I bottle in my handblown glass! Other things to note: Part of the experience will be outside to see how sap flows from the tree into lines hung on maple trees. Inside the sugar house, we'll have the evaporator boiling (sap in season water when not in season). We do not have any toilet facilities- except in the wood! So please plan ahead.

Pig Belly Rubs on a Scenic Farm in Vermont
At River Ridge Farm we LOVE our pigs! There are three resident pigs we are keeping as pets. Harold, Mama and Wilbur are sweet medium sized pigs whose breeds are known for being very social and friendly. Guests will enjoy watching their keen senses and rooting skills go to work, then we will be free to enter the pen and give back scratches and belly rubs as well as learn about upkeep of the pigs and their fellow farm friends. This event takes up to 30 minutes and is located close to wonderful restaurants or hiking spots for an easy way to “make a day of it!” :) If farm hopping is your goal, there is also a llama farm that offers hiking with llama companions in addition to a horse farm that gives tourism trail rides on their big draft horses. Ask Diana to help with any arrangements or recommendations to fully enjoy this gorgeous part of the Green Mountains!

Passeggiata alla scoperta della lana
We will begin by learning about Shetland sheep, their management, what a ruminant is and other facts specific to the Shetland breed of sheep. I will talk with guests about why we are breeding the sheep we have and what it means for them to be on the Livestock Conservancy's list of recovering breeds and why it is important to continue smart farming practices to conserve breeds that are important to diverse agriculture. Once guests have had their fill of sheep snuggles, I'll talk about the benefits of wool and demonstrate different processing techniques to show guests how the wool goes from fluff to useable yarn and fabric. Guests will have the opportunity to dive in and try their hands at wool carding, spinning and knitting with guided instruction. My hope is that guests will leave with a better understanding of the importance of conserving rare agricultural animal breeds, how their conscious choices while shopping for products can make a huge difference in animals lives, small farmers lives, their communities and the environment. Our goal is to take care of our environment while promoting rare agricultural animal breeds and educate others about the importance of taking care of the land, the animals and each other. Our educational experience packs tons of information and instruction into just an hour long mini class.

Private guided nature immersion at a woodland sanctuary
Experience the beauty of Vermont in a meaningful and memorable way with a guided Forest Immersion inspired by the Japanese art of shinrin-yoku (“forest bathing”). This immersive experience incorporates an uphill walk to keep warm as well as periods of stillness to more deeply connect with nature. You will be offered guided prompts, or “invitations”, that tap into all your senses. Not just your 5 senses, but also your intuition, imagination, and more. The guided invitations encourage mindfulness and range from contemplative to playful interaction with nature. We begin with a sensory-awakening meditation to get grounded and connect with your world in new ways. This mindful, relaxing experience is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to quiet your mind, let your curiosity wander, and be inspired by nature. There will be a combination of walking, meandering, and sitting over less than a mile of gently rolling terrain. We can adapt to your mobility needs. If your preferred time isn't listed, you can message me to request a different start time. PLEAES NOTE, I AM AWAY AND NOT ABLE TO SEE MESSAGES 5/29-6/6. For your safety, proper clothing and footwear is required (including non-cotton base layers in winter). Recommended attire for current conditions will be communicated at the time of booking.
Ricette incluse. BYOB.
